AN OVERVIEW OF COMMUNICATION

INTRODUCTION
Communication is a survival mechanism. We develop as unique persons; we rate to others; and we cooperate with others through communication.
Communication is a process that is dynamic, systemic, transactional, adaptive, and continuos, and we engage in it at numerous levels, including the intrapersonal, and public communication levels.
Human beings are communicators. Our quality of life depends upon communication.Pimitive peoples´attempts to make recognizable sounds were undoubtedly motivated by the need to meet threats to survival.
They learned to make sounds that were warnongs of impending danger, threatening sounds to frighten away intruders, and pleasant sounds to establish friendship and rapport.
Such communication, observable also in animal behavior, is called presymbolic communication.

The presymbolic communication of animals is amazingly efficeient: The signals animals send through sounds, positions, and movements- can express such definite things as " Get out of my territory", "Help", etc. Crickets and grasshopers have an atonishing variety of songs, with accompanying moods that vary from courtship to combat-to-the-deaht. Some species of butterfly change their color in a fraction of a second and give off an odor as a mating signal.

In human communication, as in animal communication, the purpose is to enable organisms to adjust to their environments.
